Col. Terrance L. Johnson

Director, U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2)

SGM JordonCOL Terrance Johnson is from Monroe, Louisiana and a graduate of Grambling State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He is a career Infantry Officer commissioned in December 1993.

Following the Infantry Officer’s Basic Course, COL Johnson’s first assignment was to the 1st Battalion (Air Assault) 503rd Infantry Regiment, Camp Casey, Korea. He served as an Anti-Tank Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer. After his tour in the 2nd Infantry Division COL Johnson was assigned to the 3rd Battalion (Mechanized) 7th Infantry Regiment at Fort Stewart, Georgia. While assigned to the 3-7 Infantry he served as Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and Battalion Maintenance Officer. He PCS’d to the Infantry Officer Advanced Course following his tour with the 3rd Infantry Division.

Following the Infantry Officer’s Advanced Course COL Johnson was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He served as Assistant Operations Officer and Bravo Company Commander for 2nd Battalion 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Upon leaving Fort Bragg, COL Johnson was selected to serve in the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard). While assigned to the Old Guard he served as Regimental Adjutant and Delta Company Commander. COL Johnson’s next assignment was as an Observer/Controller with the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) at Fort Polk, Louisiana. COL Johnson then attended the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas followed by assignment to 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division. While on his second tour with the 3/82 COL Johnson served as Operations Officer 5th Squadron 73rd Cavalry, Executive Officer 2nd Battalion 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, and BCT Rear Detachment Commander. COL Johnson was then assigned to a joint billet with United States Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany. He served in a myriad of positions to include Joint Operations Center Operations Officer / Team Chief, J335 Branch Chief (Current & Future Operations Planning) for Central and Southern Regions of the continent, and Special Operations Liaison to the United States Embassy in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

COL Johnson commanded the 1st Battalion, 307th Infantry Regiment (Barbarians) from January 2013 to May 2015, followed by a second stint with United States Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany, as Chief of Senior Leader Engagement. He is currently assigned as the Director Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2).
