Invictus Games 2018

Most of us will never know the horrors of combat. Many servicemen and women suffer life-changing injuries, both visible and invisible, while serving their countries. How do they find the motivation to move on and to not be defined by their injuries? How can they be recognized for their achievements?

Invictus Games competitors are the men and women who have come face-to-face with the reality of making a sacrifice for their country. They are the mothers, fathers, husbands and wives who have put their lives on the line and have suffered life-changing injuries. These people are the embodiment of everything the Invictus Games stands for. They have been tested and challenged, but they have not been overcome. They have proven they cannot be defeated. They have the willpower to persevere and conquer new heights. The Games shine a spotlight on the sacrifices these men and women made serving their country, and their indefatigable drive to overcome.

Athlete Journey

The Invictus Games Toronto 2018 Organizing Committee’s mission is to honour the men and women who have come face-to-face with the realities of sacrificing for their country, by using the power of sport to help them on their journey to recovery.

The Organizing Committee will plan and execute an extraordinary Invictus Games to:

  • Ensure the Invictus Games Toronto 2018 harness the power of sport to inspire recovery and rehabilitation, and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who serve their countries and their families.
  • Provide a platform for wounded, ill and injured service members—both active duty and veteran—to continue achieving their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual goals.
  • Showcase the unconquerable spirit of the world’s wounded, ill and injured service members on an international platform and inspire others to be “Invictus.”
  • Encourage a national conversation among Canadians about the sacrifices of its Canadian Armed Forces, and provide them with a much-needed forum to display their support and gratitude to its serving members and veterans.
