Positioning Soldiers and Veterans for Success

Our wounded, ill and injured Soldiers and Veterans are not considered a successful hire, unless they stay employed and meet the objectives of their position. In order to best position our population for success, we recommend employers:

  • Facilitate a conversation with both the employee and the supervisor on shared expectations
  • Educate the employee on resources for reasonable accommodations
  • Involve the severely wounded, ill and injured Soldier or Veteran's Warrior Transition Unit (WTU) or U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2) Advocate (as appropriate), who knows more about the individual’s case history
  • Mentor to retention – connect employee with senior leaders, other Veterans, and star performers throughout the organization to help the employee fully integrate into the workplace
